Boise State running back Alexander Mattison has been named the offensive player of the week in the Mountain West. Mattison carried the ball 37 times, a Boise State school record and rushed for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Broncos 33-24 win over Utah State for the Mountain Division crown.

The Broncos are now 10-2 and ranked 19th in the latest AP College football poll and next up is 25th ranked Fresno State for the Mountain West championship this Saturday at 5:45 p.m. on the blue turf of Albertsons Stadium.

In short it's championship week-take 2 in Boise and the second straight game featuring a top 25 match-up.

Boise State was ranked 23rd when they beat 14th ranked Utah State for the Mountain Division title and now the Broncos are 19th and Fresno State 25th as they collide for the conference championship.

If familiarity breeds contempt the Broncos and Bulldogs certainly have just cause to despise one another. Saturday will mark the fourth time the two teams have met in the last 16 games.

If you combined the scores from all three previous games Fresno State has the lead 59-58. Boise State has won the last two games, 24-17 last month and then 17-14 for the Mountain West title in December of 2017. Fresno won the 2017 regular season meeting 28-17.

This should be a fun week leading up to kickoff.
