According a report in the Spokesman Review out of Spokane, the Big Sky conference will announce early next week it will be moving it's post season basketball tournament from Reno to Boise beginning in 2018-19.

The tournament will be played at  CenturyLink Arena home of the Steelheads Hockey team and former home of the NBA D-League Stampede.

The conference is expected to formally announce the move early next week, but news of the change broke late Tuesday night as several schools talked about the pending three year deal in Boise.

Reaction on social media today was skeptical the story is even true and Big Sky officials have declined any comment. That is usually the first indication that something is afoot!

Playing at a neutral site, centrally located is important to the Big Sky and with Idaho coming into the fold Boise seems to be the neutral epicenter for the league.

From 1976 to 2015 the Big Sky held it's post season basketball tournament at the home of the regular season champions but a neutral site has become the preferred option..

The problem with a neutral site is filling seats. Century Link with it's 5,000 seats is a perfect venue size wise.

Again we are still waiting for the league to confirm the move and that is expected early next week.
