The pre-season USA Today coaches football poll has been released and Alabama is #1 and former Boise State coach Chris Petersen has his Washington Huskies 7th. Boise State is just out of the top 25 at #29 and that's about right. The scary part concerning the poll comes when you look at some of the other teams that received votes. Six of them are Boise State opponents! Washington State, BYU, San Diego State and Colorado State all received pre-season recognition and Boise State will play all four of those teams on the road. Two other Bronco opponents received pre-season votes in Wyoming and Troy and BSU will host both those games. Can I get a collective "Wow-zer?" Not sure what that word means or if I just made it up but the point is this, Boise State is looking at a challenging year. Head coach Brian Harsin tried to make everyone feel better at his Monday press conference by saying the 2017 Broncos have depth and that means competition for jobs. That also means the coaching staff still isn't sure who'll be playing where or what position. Sure a few positions are set in stone but the season opener September 2nd against Troy will be interesting. Sometimes coaches can be tricky. One year at Nebraska Mike Rozier won the Heisman Trophy but his backup, Roger Craig lavished in the NFL while Rozier fizzled. What I'm saying is...never count lack of experience as a lack of talent. BSU has had some pretty good recruiting seasons and now it's time for those recruits to transition into game mode. Kickoff is just four weeks from Saturday.
