Football seems to get most of the attention but it's not the only sport getting ready to kickoff the 2018 season.

The pre-season 5A SIC boys soccer poll is out and Boise and Borah are one/two! Ironically they open the season against one another Saturday August 18th at Borah, 11 a.m.

Boise is ranked #1 despite Borah being the defending state 5A champion. The Lions beat Post Falls on a late goal by Ahmed Ibrahimovic on a cold wet night at Rocky Mountain high school.

I called that match on a nation wide web broadcast and Ibrahimovic just took the game over late to lead the Lions.

Borah in fact received 4 first place votes to Boise's 2 from the coaches but the Braves earned the top ranking with 87 points to 82 for Borah.

Polls are great but everything will be decided on the field and we won't have much time to wait as Saturdays Borah-Boise match will set the tone.

Here is the pre-season 5A SIC coaches rankings:

1.Boise 87pts, 2.Borah 82pts, 3.Rocky Mountain 78pts, 4.Timberline 71pts, 5.Mountain View 53pts, 6.Centennial 52pts, 7 (Tie) Capital and Eagle 36pts each, 9. Skyview 35pts and 10. Meridian 20pts.
