Boise State head coach Bryan Harsin says junior safety Taylor Loffler has retired from college football.
"We appreciate Taylor for the effort he put into this program and what he has given to this team," Harsin explained. "Unfortunately, his injuries are not going to allow him to finish his playing career, but he is going to continue to be a big part of Bronco Football as he finishes school," Harsin continued. "He is excited about where Boise State is headed, and we are going to continue to be here for him as he works toward earning his degree."
Loffler redshirted in 2011 and missed all of 2012 while recovering from an injury.
In 2013, Loffler had 12 tackles and two fumble recoveries in 12 games played. He recorded his first career interception against Wyoming on Nov. 16.
In addition, senior defensive tackle Justin Taimatuia and freshman linebacker Joe Provenzano will redshirt the 2014 season. Harsin cited "medical reasons" for them as well.
