Heidi Cartisser, just 44 years old, died in her sleep Tuesday night leaving her team, family and the entire athletic department at the College of Southern Idaho in shock. CSI Athletic Director Joel Bate confirmed the news. Cartisser who played at CSI in the 90's has been their head volleyball coach the last 12 seasons with a record of 359-89. Her teams won seven regional championships and Cartisser was named the American Volleyball Association West region coach of the year four times. Under Cartisser's leadership the Golden Eagles won National Junior College Titles in 2009, 2012 and 2015. Cartisser's husband Jim has been her assistant coach since she began at CSI in 2006. They have five children. Players tweeted their heartbreak and shock saying this just doesn't seem real. Bate adding Cartisser taught so much more than volleyball and was a friend, teacher and mentor, a huge loss for the entire CSI family.
