Former Boise State football coach Dan Hawkins has been on a roller coaster ride since leaving the Bronco's and now he hopes the his current FCS road leads to a national championship.

UC Davis, where Hawkins is the head football coach, is one of  four Big Sky teams remaining in the FCS playoffs.

Hawkins left Boise State for Colorado, was fired in Boulder, tried being an ESPN analyst and also coached in the Canadian Football League. 2018 at UC Davis has been his most successful year as a head coach since leaving Boise.

Four Big Sky teams in the FCS playoffs in 50% of Saturday's schedule. Hawkins and UC Davis will host Northern Iowa who had to play last week beating Lamar 16-13.

Other Big Sky teams in FCS playoff action are Eastern Washington hosting Nichols State, SE Missouri will be at Weber State and Montana State plays at North Dakota State

Four Big Sky teams, each now just three wins from a National FCS Title..
