Destiny Slocum is happy to be back on the basketball court and already she is making headlines at Oregon State.

Slocum, who played at Mountain View High School, sat out last year after transferring to Oregon State from Maryland. Slocum's one season at Maryland was memorable as she led the Terps to the NCAA Sweet 16 and was named the freshman of the year by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

Despite the success Slocum didn't feel she fit in at Maryland so it was off to Corvallis where she saw her first action earlier this week in an exhibition win over NW Nazarene.

Slocum and 8th ranked Oregon State open the regular season tomorrow night against Cal-Poly.

Slocum has already been named to the Pac-12 pre-season All-Conference team and she is one of 30 players named to the John R Wooden watch list which selects the top female basketball player of the year.

The former McDonald's All-American and USA World team member scored 13 points and dished out 7 assists in the Beavers exhibition win.
