YMCA Director Tom Hays says damage to the basketball floor in Downtown Boise’s Y is bad enough that the club will have to tear out the floor and put in a new one.
Two weeks ago a sprinkler head above the second-floor court broke. YMCA staff and Boise Fire Department used squeegees to remove water from its surface, but Hay’s says the wood is warped and has to come out.
The YMCA’s insurance will pay for removal of the old floor and installation of a new one, Hays said. That will take at least a month and possibly two. The YMCA will figure out the details later this week.
