I admit to being a fast food junkie although I have modified my ordering pattern to eat as healthy as possible and still be a fast food junkie. Part of the passion for fast food places isn't the food, it's the conversation.

My 30 years on Boise TV still makes it hard to go incognito entering a fast food establishment and so I'm always being asked what I think about Boise State football and their chances for 2017.

Today was no different and to be honest my opinion doesn't really count. They ask my opinion but it's just a ploy to get my attention so I can listen to how they see the season unfolding.

I'm game, I'll listen but what I hear this year is less than encouraging. Even life-long die hard Bronco fans are concerned with the lack of returning experience and even more so, a stacked schedule.

If you don't think this years BSU schedule is nasty, think again! Troy has never been a football cupcake and to have them as the opening opponent might be testy.

At Washington State, at BYU, at San Diego State...ouch. By the way, the BYU and San Diego State games are back to back.

I had one guy today predict a 7-5 BSU season. No matter his reason, isn't that treason? Okay he said when pressed, 8-4. That's better but in this spoiled valley of Kellen Moore dreamers 8-4 just doesn't cut it.

It'll be interesting at the Mountain West meetings next week in Las Vegas. San Diego State is a sure bet to be voted to win the west but Boise State not so much in Mountain division. Colorado State and Wyoming are in the mix even though Colorado State has yet to beat the Broncos. Could 2017 be their year? The Rams host BSU November 11th and that's probably a date to circle.

What's neat is we are starting to talk football again and this year there is a lot of food for thought!
