Some might say you can't get anything for free these days but don't fall for that hook, line and sinker because this Saturday June 10th is free fishing day in Idaho.

That's right, if you don't have a license to fish you won't have to look over your shoulder while wetting a line Saturday.

Just a reminder, while the license requirement is suspended for the day but all other fishing rules in Idaho are in effect. This is Idaho's way to get new folks hooked on the sport, thus buying a license and increasing Idaho's revenue to help make sure fishing in the state continues to improve through support of hatcheries across the state.

In the Boise area there are several special events planned where equipment will be available and even some fishing experts will be on hand to answer any questions.

If you are new to Idaho and decide to give fishing a try remember that rivers and streams are very high and dangerous and in fact really aren't fishable right now. The best bet will be to try local ponds, lakes and reservoirs.
