It was a good day for Boise State’s Emma Bates who placed second in the 10,000 meters at Thursday‘s West Region Preliminaries, finishing in 34 minutes, 6.99 seconds. She will compete in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships from June 11-14 in Eugene, Ore. Hayli Bozarth finished 29th in the women's shot put (48 feet, 10 inches). In the men's 10,000, Jeff Howard finished 41st in 32:28.37 and Austin Hamilton was 17th in the men's javelin (206-11). Fernando Martinez (52.95) and Rex Stanley (54.24) took seventh and eighth in their respective heats of the 400 hurdles and did not advance to the finals.
