The Hawks left Volcanoes Stadium Wednesday with a 10-9 win over the Salem-Keizer despite an eight run bottom of the 8th inning from the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes that was almost too much for Boise to overcome.

Boise led the game 10-1 before the 8th inning. Four home runs in the game by the Hawks led them to the win. It was the night of the rookies for Boise with all four home runs being hit by the new kids on the block. Bret Boswell, Sean Bouchard, Daniel Jipping, and Matt McLaughlin all hit home runs in the game. Jipping now leads the Northwest League in home runs with seven. For McLaughlin, it was the first of his career.

The Hawks also received a strong pitching performance from starter Nick Kennedy out of the University of Texas. Kennedy tossed three innings of scoreless ball and only allowed three hits. He struck out one batter for his first professional strikeout.

Earning the win for the Hawks was Salvador Justo, who threw two innings of scoreless relief while striking out five batters.

With the win Boise is tied for first place in the Northwest League south division along with the Eugene Emeralds and have now won four straight games improving to 15-12.
