FIFA, the governing body of soccer has determined that Sofia Huerta is eligible to play for the USA women's national team.

Huerta a Boise native who played at Centennial High has duel citizenship in Mexico and in 2013 played for Mexico in the U-20 World Cup. She has been training with the USA national team and needed a favorable ruling from FIFA to play for team USA.

Now that FIFA has ruled in her favor Huerta could suit up as early as tonight or next Tuesday as the Americans will play New Zealand in a pair of friendlies.

Huerta, who also plays pro soccer in Chicago says her dream is to play for the USA in the 2018 World Cup.

That dream is now one step closer to reality.
