In a unanimous vote the Idaho State Board of Education, meeting in Pocatello, has fired Idaho Athletic Director Rob Spear following an investigation into his departments handling of sexual assault and harassment complaints by several female athletes starting in 2012-13.

Spear, who has been on administrative leave for about four months was fired for "convenience" which means he could be paid for the remainder of his contract which runs through February 2020. Spears annual salary is just under $200,000 but that includes supplement income, his base is salary is $181,958.

Spear has worked at Idaho since 1989 and was named athletic director in January of 2004.

In making the announcement the State Board said the decision to fired Dr. Spear was considered in the best interest of the university and the students.
