So far 2017 has not been a great season for Mountain West football teams in head to head meetings with teams from Power 5 conferences.

San Diego State has done a great job with back to back wins over Pac 12 teams Arizona State and Stanford. Those however are the only two wins by the Mountain West over Power 5 teams.

Boise State blew a 31-10 fourth quarter lead at Washington State before losing 47-44 in triple overtime but the other Mountain West vs. Power 5 were not pretty. Granted, Fresno State and Colorado State both played at Alabama and their losses were expected.

Tonight Boise State plays it's second power 5 opponent in Virginia and while the Broncos are favored by 11 points, it's not over till it's over said one Casey Stengel.

Tomorrow Nevada is at Washington State but a Wolfpack win would be a shocker given their loss last week to FCS Idaho State.

Ironically while San Diego State has been flying the conference flag in beating Power 5 teams, there is no given this week for the Aztecs who open conference play at Air Force. Just ask BSU about the degree of difficulty playing in Colorado Springs!
