The Eagle high school girls softball team had not lost a game since May of 2015. Along the way the Mustangs became the #1 team in the country according to MaxPreps.com, a first for any high school sports team in Idaho. Eagle also won back to back state 5A championships.

However, a nearly two year streak of 43 consecutive wins came to an end at the pitching arm of Rocky Mountains Katelyn Wilfert who tossed a three hit shutout in a 2-0 Rocky win at Eagle.

Wilfert didn't stop with her pitching as she went 2 for 3 at the plate including an RBI double in the top 6th when Rocky scored both their runs. Rocky is now 4-0 while Eagle is 9-1.

The Mustangs may well win yet another 5A state title but for the first time in nearly two years another team has given notice they are contenders for crown as well.
