National letter of intent signing day has become somewhat of a phenomenon even though no one is sure what the future is for the signees in the long haul. Only a small percentage of players who sign their letters of intent will be around in three or four years.

Signing day is most interesting because of potential surprises. Social media means we've known for months the decision of most athletes as they take to Facebook and Twitter to announce their intentions and the only real news on signing day is about  those athletes who change their minds.

Most of the attention falls on football where the Treasure Valley had a great year with recruits. Some 14 area players inked with FBS or FCS teams.

Football isn't the only sport accepting letters of intent as more than 150 local athletes are expected to sign to play at the college level in soccer, baseball etc

Last but not least, expect the response of area coaches to be the same as always that being, we are very pleased with this years recruiting class.
