The Idaho girls high school basketball season is barely a couple of games old and already there are just three teams in the 5A SIC without a loss and that's soon to be just two.

Tonight 1-0 Eagle is at 2-0 Timberline so that will eliminate one of those two from the undefeated ranks. Also tonight 1-0 Mountain View hosts 0-1 Rocky Mountain where the Mavericks are a prohibitive favorite meaning the chances are good by Friday only two 5A SIC girls basketball teams, in a conference of 10, will be undefeated.

It's setting up for an interesting 2018-19 season for the ladies who were dominated by Eagle last year. The Mustangs raced to a 29-1 record losing only in the 5A State championship game.

Eagle lost a pair of division ! players to graduation but they're still a team ready to make it back to state even though Mountain View might just be the team to beat.

The Mavericks were 12-4 in conference last year and finished 3rd in state and return a bunch of players including another Slocum. Trinity Slocum, sister Destiny, averaged 9 ppg last year.

Bottom line it's way too early to predict anything for certain but just a couple of games into the season it appears things will get pretty competitive.
