Boise State football opens fall camp in less than one week, August 1st. That's right, the college football season is just around the corner and arm chair quarterbacks everywhere are comparing notes.

It has been a long time since the Boise State Broncos have not been the favorite or the co-favorite to win their division, if not a conference title. 2017 could be the exception.

The Mountain West football meetings begin tomorrow in Las Vegas and the first order of business are the pre season media and coaches polls. Boise State could well be second in the Mountain Division behind Colorado State. Yes, I am saying a team that has never beaten Boise State in football could be ranked ahead of them.

Question is, will Wyoming also jump the Broncos?

Here is the dilemma....Boise State lost so many players last year that when the first depth chart of the season was released 13 of the starting 22 had played in just one game or none. That's a whole lot of new faces and inexperience to start a season where BSU plays at Washington State, At BYU, at Colorado State and at San Diego State. Plus, Troy, the Broncos season opener was ranked #2, just a few points behind Appalachian State in the Sun Belt pre-season poll.

Colorado State has a great offense returning but they'll be average on defense. Still the Rams get to host BSU and that's big especially in a new stadium. As for Wyoming, the Cowboys shocked BSU in Laramie last year and they'll be good on offense again but Wyoming still needs to take a few more leaps before they hop over the Broncos in any poll.

There will be plenty to talk about when the pre-season polls come out tomorrow so strap on the seat belt, the college football express is about to leave the station.
