Two former Idaho high school basketball standouts made the sports news this week without scoring a point.

Kolby Lee, the Gatorade player of the year in 2016 with Rocky Mountain has joined the BYU basketball team in mid season and will redshirt this year.

Lee left his LDS mission in Australia early. The 6-10 center averaged nearly 17 points per game his senior season.

Destiny Slocum meantime is sitting out the season after transferring from Maryland to Oregon State  At Maryland Slocum who played prep ball at Mountain View, was the freshman of the year in women's college basketball last year.

During Maryland's NCAA Tournament game against West Virginia, Slocum made a 70 foot buzzer beater at halftime. The shot was chosen by ESPNW as one of the top 10 women's sports plays of the year. Slocum's shot was listed #6.

Slocum will play for Oregon State next year as a redshirt sophomore.
