Destiny Slocum, who recently played for Team USA at the FIBA U19 World Championship in Russia, announced on her Twitter site that she has verbally committed to the University of Maryland women’s basketball team, which has made back-to-back appearances in the Final Four.

The 5'7" guard who will be a senior at Mountain View led the Mavericks to their first state title last season, averaging 25.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.9 steals per game. Slocum had been committed to Washington until last spring.
