New England Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady will be suspended four games in the 2015 NFL season, plus their first-round pick in 2016, and their fourth-round pick in 2017. Adam Schefter broke the news on Twitter Monday afternoon. The Patriots were also fined $1 million.

The Wells report on the deflation of game balls in the AFC championship game last season found that "it is more probable than not that New England Patriots personnel participated in violations of the Playing Rules and were involved in a deliberate effort to circumvent the rules" and that it is probable that Brady "was at least generally aware of... the release of air from Patriots game balls," Sports Illustrated reported.

An appeal is expected.
