I don't want to sound like an old fuddy-duddy here, but do the rules apply to NO ONE anymore?!  Several U of I football players stole clothes from the campus store, got away with it and will play against the Ohio Bobcats.

According to KTVB, the Vandal Store manager told police three men stole about $400 worth of clothes from the on campus store while it was only open to the football team.  Police asked head coach Paul Petrino to identify the players on the security footage.  He ended up returning the stolen items and the store manager said he doesn't remember who Petrino identified.

The university declined to comment on the incident.  No charges were filed.  No players were suspended.

Uh, did I miss something here?  In our parts, don't people end up with the Ada Sheriff when they shoplift?  Shouldn't players be suspended for breaking the law?  Did Petrino and the store manager protect the thieves because they're on the football team?
