Coming off a 61-50 win over Colorado State in the 2016 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl the Idaho Vandals have a ton of motivation as they played their final season in the Sun Belt.

The Vandals are headed to the Big Sky conference in 2018 where they'll renew old rivalries like Idaho State and Montana.

This season it's all about the current rivals. Maybe not rivals in the traditional sense but the Vandals have been the Rodney Dangerfield of the Sun Belt. Even Idaho's success against Colorado State, a contender in the Mountain West didn't result in any higher than a 6th place finish in the Sun Belt pre-season poll. You get the feeling the Vandals will play this final Sun Belt season with a chip on their shoulder.

The preseason Sun Belt favorite is Appalachian State who has to play the Vandals in Moscow on October 14th. That might be a date to remember!

There seems to be a new found confidence in the Vandal camp. More speed on defense than head coach Paul Petrino has seen in his tenure, a senior quarterback in Matt Linehan who seems destined for a great season and the Kibbie Dome has been all fancied up with a new artificial surface

Once again the Vandal games will air on sports radio 630 The Fan starting August 25th against Sacramento State of the Big Sky Conference.

The stars are certainly aligned for Idaho to make an impressive exit from the Sun Belt as they build on their bowl success in 2017.
