Last Friday the Mountain View football team had the luxury to sit back and watch results unfold in the first round of the state 5A prep football playoffs.

Now the defending state champs have to go to work this Friday to defend their title and make an unprecedented fourth consecutive trip to the championship game.

Mountain View, 9-0 and ranked #1 in Idaho beat Capital last year to win the 5A State crown. Friday night they host the Rigby Trojans who beat Borah 35-21 in the first round. The Trojans will be making their second straight trip to the Treasure Valley.

630 The Fan will broadcast the Rigby-Mountain View game 7 p.m. Jared Zabransky and I will have the play by play.

Also Friday night Rocky Mountain will play at Eagle 7 p.m., The Capital Eagles play Highland of Pocatello in Holt Arena Friday at 8:15 p.m. while Madison travels to Coeur d'Alene.

The 4A playoff lineup includes a Thursday Bishop Kelly-Skyline of Idaho Falls tussle at Holt arena in Pocatello 5:30 p.m. kickoff.

Then on Friday in 4A the Skyview Hawks, 9-0 and ranked #1 in 4A will host Idaho Falls at 7 p.m., Middleton travels to Sandpoint for 7 p.m. showdown and Century of Pocatello plays at Minico 7 p.m. kickoff.

and in 3A action Friday night Homedale will be at Shelley 7 p.m. while on Saturday top ranked Fruitland 9-0 will host Sugar-Salem at 1 p.m.
