While Boise State and BYU meet on the football field just about every year lately, the Broncos and Cougars haven't met on the basketball court for 11 years!

All that will change Wednesday night when Boise State hosts BYU in Extra Mile arena, tip at 8pm. The game will be part of a doubleheader with the Boise State women hosting Washington State at 5pm.

As for the men, this will be the 14th meeting between the two with BYU holding a 9-4 margin, however the Broncos are 3-2 in Boise including back t back wins in 2006 and 2007.

BYU comes into the game at 3-1, their only loss to San Diego State of the Mountain West. Boise State meantime is 1-2 after suffering back to back losses to Oregon and UC Irvine.

Despite those set backs, Boise State junior Derrick Alston is averaging 25 points per game and that's the best in the Mountain West.Alston is the first Bronco to score at least 20 points in each of the first three games since Roberto Bergersen in 1998-99.

In fact, only one other bronco has scored 20 or more in the first three games and that was Greg Bunn in 1971-72. For the record, neither Bergersen or Bunn was able to extend the 20 point scoring streak to a fourth game.

Wednesdays BSU-BYU game will b televised on the CBS Sports Network.
