Boise State's two time NCAA 3,000 meter Steeplechase National Champion, Allie Ostrander has been named the female athlete of the year in the Mountain West Conference.

Ostrander becomes just the second Boise State female athlete to be honored in back to back years, Emma Bates is the other.

This past season Ostrander won the National crown in Steeplechase, was 4th in the NCAA Cross Country Championships and 8th in the 5,000 meter NCAA Final which was held less than an hour after she had won the 3,000 meter Steeplechase.

The honor also takes into account character and academics and that made Ostrander with her 4.0 GPA and fun loving personality a no brainer for Athlete of the Year honors.

San Diego State running back Rashaad Penny was named the Mountain West male athlete of the year.
