Opening night of District basketball action can be a mixed bag with the lower seeds protected and that can lead to some mismatches.

Top seeded Rocky Mountain rolled to a 66-41 win over Capital. The Grizzlies now 20-2 on the year will play Eagle in the semi finals this Saturday, 6 p.m. at Borah.

It was the Mustangs who provided a minor upset on opening night beating Boise 60-57 in double overtime. The two four minute extra periods were as tense and close as they could be and not until the final three point attempt at the buzzer by Boise was wide, the outcome was in doubt.

Borah, the tournaments second seed beat Centennial 53-38 while Mountain View outlasted Meridian 69-54. Borah and Mountain View collide at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the semi finals at Borah.

As we were last night, 630 The Fan will be court side Saturday to broadcast both games live. The winners earn state tournament berths and will collide for the 5A SIC District III Championship Friday February 22nd at 7 p.m. at Borah.
