The 52nd annual Dropping Golf Championship[s began Monday at the Banbury Golf Club in Eagle. The two day event for boys and girls features the top junior golfers in the Northwest ages 14-18.

After one round Ridge Pickup leads the boys competition following a 4 under par 68. Patrick Azevedo is next at 71 followed by Zack Carter with a 72.

Carissa Graft is atop the leader board on the girls side with a 73, Emily Caldwell is next at 74 followed by Kelli Ann Strand at 75.

The Dropping tournament is named after the late John Dropping who was the best junior golfer in Idaho in the mid 1960's. He graduated Borah High and played for the University of Idaho before passing way too early.

Every year local professional Jerry Breaux has helped to make this one of the top junior golf events in the nation, first held at the Hillcrest CC and now at Banbury.
