So your saying there's a chance? Yesterday new Eagle High athletic director Scott Criner was resigned to the fact his Eagle football team would have to begin the 2017 season by playing Mountain View at Rocky Mountain. Now there is a chance the Mustangs could actually host the defending state 5A champion Mavericks.

It turns out the real mountain to climb here is the Sprinturf company which was supposed to have the new artificial surface installed at Eagles Thunder Stadium by August 4th. They'll be fined $1,000 a day since the 4th and the field isn't ready yet.

Obviously the pressure is on and Sprinturf says the field will be ready for play by Tuesday August 22. If that holds true, Eagle will host Mountain View on Friday the 25th as scheduled. If not, the game will be played at Rocky Mountain.

Sprinturf has started laying down sections of the turf and expects to work the weekend to make sure it's ready by Tuesday.

Either way 630 The Fan will be on hand to open another season of high school football and what a blockbuster to start the year. Eagle, 10-1 last year lost only to Mountain View in the State semi finals and the Mavericks went on to beat Capital for the 5A championship.

Former Boise State quarterback Jared Zabransky will join me in the both and we look forward to his insights on the game. 630 The Fan, your home for high school sports with the Taco Bell game of the week presented by Cap Ed. It all starts Friday August 25 at 7pm.
