If anyone had told me Boise State, Idaho and Idaho State would all be 2-2 after four weeks of the college football season I'm not sure I would have bought into that prediction.

Boise State 3-1, Idaho and Idaho State both 1-3 was more the way I saw things through the first few weeks.

So, is anybody really happy at 2-2?

The bye week couldn't have come at a better time for Boise State. After the Virginia loss BSU head coach Bryan Harsin promised changes are coming so that tells you no one is happy in Bronco land.

Idaho head coach Paul Petrino said this week he loves the direction and improvement of his team, that coming after a double overtime win at South Alabama. You may recall South Alabama beat San Diego State last year. The Vandals also have a bye week before hosting Louisiana-Lafayette October 7th 3 p.m. kickoff. Yes, Idaho is pleased at 2-2 if not quite happy.

Idaho State beat Nevada 30-28 and the very next week blew a lead at Northern Colorado to lose their Big Sky opener. Saturday the Bengals host Cal Poly at 2:30 p.m. in a game that might well define their season. Win and Idaho State can become a wildcard factor in the league race. Lose and it'll be hard to convince anyone that this isn't just another Idaho State team destined for a 3-8 season.

Quite frankly all three teams are at critical stages of the season with some of the toughest competition yet to come.
