MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho men’s basketball team will be competing in the postseason for the first time since 2011-12, this time heading to the College Basketball Invitational. The Vandals will travel for their opening round game, taking on Seattle U on Wednesday, March 16.

The Vandals finished the regular season 20-11, marking the first time since the 1992-93 season an Idaho squad won 20 games. Idaho went 12-6 in the Big Sky, earning the No. 3 seed and a bye in the tournament. Idaho took down local-rival Eastern Washington in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky Tournament, before falling to No. 2 Montana in the semifinals.

Idaho had a solid schedule in 2015-16, playing four non-conference games against teams that made the NCAA Tournament. Idaho also defeated the lone Big Sky representative in the Big Dance, defeating Weber State 62-58 in the lone meeting.

The CBI is a 16-team, single-elimination tournament until the Championship Round, which is a three-game series. All games played at the home site of the higher-seeded team.

Last season, Seattle U. advanced to the semifinals of the CBI before falling to eventual champion Loyola-Chicago. Idaho is the first Big Sky representative in the CBI since Montana in 2011. Eastern Washington and Montana will also represent the Big Sky in 2016.  The Vandals will play Wednesday Night at 730pm on 630 The Fan.
