The Mountain View Mavericks have been the top baseball team in Idaho the entire 2019 season and last night they reached another season goal by winning the 5A District 3 baseball crown.

The Mavericks rolled to a 14-1 win over Rocky Mountain Wednesday and combined with a 2-1 win Tuesday, took the best of three championship series two games to none.

Mountain View, 24-2, now heads to the state tournament next week where they open against the Madison Bobcats.

Last nights celebration was somewhat subdued however because of a scary incident involving Mountain View pitcher Riley Harrison.

Harrison, who had the game winning two run single in Tuesday opening game, was on the mound for the Mavericks when he took a line drive to his head and went down behind the mound.

After several minutes Harrison was able to sit up and then he walked off the field under his own power but was taken to a local hospital for observation. Reports indicate he was stable but his status for the state tournament will be day to day.
