With mounds of snow piled up over six feet tall surrounding the field, Mountain View was able to overcome the elements and Lake City High School 28 to 14 to land in the 5a State Football championship.
The Mavericks (9-2) will play the winner of Saturday's other semifinal between Highland (10-0) and Rocky Mountain (8-2). The championship game will be played at Albertsons Stadium.
Collingham left the game late in the fourth quarter after injuring his left knee on a punt play. His status for the championship game is not known this morning, although he did give a thumbs up to the crowd after getting a side line examination.
The defense came through again getting four turnovers against the Timberwolves. Senior Kaleb Turlington intercepted the Lake City quarterback to end Lake City’s season.
