Last year Rocky Mountain running back Nick Romano was being chased by every defender in the Southern Idaho Conference (SIC) and tomorrow he hopes to make Penn State defenders do the same.

Hard to imagine the quantum leap the 5A Gatorade player of the year has taken in one season. Romano is part of several offensive packages the Vandals will throw at Penn State tomorrow when the teams collide at 1:30 p.m. Boise time here on 630 The Fan.

As a reminder, Romano last year with the Grizzlies rushed for 2,221 yards and 32 touchdowns. He's 5-10 and just over 200 pounds and has become one of the fastest players on the Idaho team.

Not many are giving the Vandals a chance in tomorrows showdown with the 15th ranked Nittany Lions but head coach Paul Petrino says that doesn't matter. He just wants his team to enjoy the experience of playing in front of 100,000 fans, to stay in the moment playing one play at a time and if they do that Petrino feels the Vandals will benefit the remainder of the season.

Petrino still hasn't decided on a starting quarterback and says both his son, Mason Petrino and Colton Richardson will see playing time.

I'm not a fan of playing two quarterbacks but Petrino doesn't seem to mind or be able to make up his mind.

Part of the issue of course has been a series of injuries to Richardson who is healthy right now and that's good news for Idaho.
