The Rocky Mountain Grizzlies went 12-0 last year en route to winning the 5A Idaho State Football Championship beating Mountain View in the title game.

This past weekend the Grizzlies went 8-0 in winning the Idaho Potato Bowl 7-on-7 passing Tournament beating Mountain View 37-34 in the championship game!

The next time these two teams meet will be Friday September 6th at Mountain View in the second game of the 2019 regular high school football season. The game will be broadcast live on sports radio 630 The Fan.

The high school football season is right around the corner with practices beginning August 12th and the first game of the season Thursday August 29th with Rocky Mountain vs. Borah at Dona Larsen Park, again to be broadcast live on 630 The Fan.

Rocky Mountain will be favored again to win the SIC and one of the favorites to repeat as state champions, however an SIC team hasn't won back to back 5A State Titles since the Idaho High School Activities Association became the governing body of athletics in 1979.

The Grizzlies return 31 letter-man from last year including 9 of their 11 starters on defense but on offense, game is running back Nick Romano who scored 32 touchdowns. None-the-less, Rocky is expected to be loaded on offense and more than capable of equaling their 2018 season average of just better than 37 points per game.

Just for the record, the Rocky Mountain JV team also won their 7-on-7 passing competition, an indication of just how much talent head coach Chris Culig has in uniform.

One last note from the 7-on-7 competition concerns the "Lineman Challenge" where Capital High School made it three straight years of winning the tug of war competition.
