Destiny Slocum continues to build her basketball resume as the former Mountain View basketball star and NCAA freshman of the year at Maryland, will head to Colorado Springs to train with the USA U-23 National team.

Slocum is one of 40 women invited to training camp and 12 will be chosen for a round robin four country tournament in August in Japan featuring Japan, Canada, Australia and the USA.

Slocum, who transferred to Oregon State following her standout freshman season at Maryland, was part of the USA World Championship team in 2015 that won gold in Russia.

Making a U-23 team could be a challenge 22 gold medalists are among the 40 invitees. Of course that hasn't fazed Slocum in the past as she continues to live up to each and every challenge.

In 2015 Slocum was a late edition to the USA World team in Russia. The team was already in Moscow when she left Boise and played just hours after arriving in the Russian capital. She played in every game and when all was said and done grabbed the trophy and was front and center for the team picture. Now that's confidence!

Slocum will have to sit out this collegiate season but has three years of eligibility beginning with the 2018 season.
