Former BSU and Detroit Lions NFL Wide Receiver was sentenced today to probation for five years according to the Detroit News.  Young was charged with felony assault  charges in multiple California counties and could have received time in the state prison.

The judge issued Young a stern warning today.  "I can't tolerate any violation from you. You should not consider this a first chance or a second chance. You've had lots of chances. This is the biggest chance you've been given, and you won't get another one from me. If I learn that you have in any way harmed anyone, you'll do time."

Young could have been sentenced to three years in jail or been ordered to undergo further mental tests.  He is currently being treated at the Crosby Center in California.  With time served and continued improvement he could be a free man in February.
