Seven of the ten teams ranked in the most recent 5A and 4A Idaho high school football polls are from the Treasure Valley including the top ranked teams in both standings.

Rocky Mountian remains the number one team in 5A. The Grizzlies are 2-0 coming off an impressive 27-7 win at Mountain View which extended their winning streak to 14 games dating back to 2018.

The Eagle Mustangs have opened the season with a pair of wins and jumped into the number two spot. We will get to see Eagle in action Friday night as they host the Borah Lions 7pm in the McDonald's game of the week on sports radio 630 The Fan.

Mountain View, Highland of Pocatello and Coeur d"Alene complete at 5A Top 5 each at 1-1.

The 4A standings are extremely interesting with the Kuna Caveman ranked number one! Kuna received 5 of 7 first place votes and at 2-0 are the only undefeated team in the 4A poll.

Vallivue, number one last week, lost to Bishop Kelly last Friday and dropped to second place at 1-1. Bishop Kelly, which lost to Nampa opening night is tied with the Bulldogs for third place. BK did receive two first place votes to none for Nampa but both tallied 17 points thus the tie.

Hillcrest of Idaho Falls is 5th.

Obviously it's going to be an interesting year in 4A football as Middleton, ranked second in the preseason poll is on the outside looking in after receiving just 10 points in the voting but remember, Middleton still; has Bishop Kelly and Vallivuie on their schedule.

Yes sir, there's still a lot of football to be played!
