Coach Lacey believes the Meridian High Warriors will be able to go out and compete this season and be in a position for a SIC Conference Title.

The Warriors are expecting progression from last season. By making some changes, players are now in spots where they can excel, according to Lacey.

"Colton Smilliey has lead the team in the off season by working hard and showing the team how to approach practice and games." Some other notable returners to the Warriors roster this season are second team all conference, Talon Krest (running back), and Trenton Hope (defensive back) who is a leader in the defensive secondary.

Lacey says it has been a great summer as far as conditioning goes. "There has been an increase in numbers in the weight room from summers past. Some players are making impressive gain in the weight room and on the field."

The Warriors are looking forward to the season opener. "Hopefully some of the preparation for the season opener has been taken care of all ready. We are entering fall camp shortly with a mission in mind. We want to make sure we are careful with what we are doing and how we are doing it."

Lacey doesn't take any team for granted and there are a number of teams in the conference that will give us a hard time.
