2017 was a great season for Boise State freshman linebacker Curtis Weaver. Last month he was named to the first team All Mountain West defensive team, the first freshman player ever to earn that honor.

Now the 6-3 252 pounder has been tabbed by the Football Writers Association as a member of the Freshman All-American team.

Weaver is just the fourth Bronco to be honor as a freshman All-American following in the cleats of Kellen Moore, Matt Miller and Sam Ukwuachu.

Weaver, who lost 30 pounds so he could become a more mobile linebacker led the Broncos with 11 sacks, he had an interception and returned a fumble for a touchdown.

Weaver was also named to the USA Today All Freshman team back in December and is part of the reason the Broncos are already being hyped for 2018 as a possible contender for a New Year Six Bowl.
