The wife of ESPN sportscaster Chris Berman and another driver were killed in a crash on Route 64 in Woodbury, Connecticut Tuesday afternoon.

The victims were identified as Katherine Ann Berman, 67, of Cheshire, and Edward Bertulis, 87, of Waterbury.

ESPN said Katherine Berman, was a longtime Waterbury teacher, who was married to Chris Berman for more than 33 years. They have two children, Meredith and Douglas.

Katherine Berman was killed the day before Chris Berman’s 62nd birthday.

According to TMZ, Chris Berman was at the Giants/Mets game at Citi Field when he was notified of the crash by NYPD officers.

John Skipper, president of ESPN, said in a statement, said “this is a devastating tragedy and difficult to comprehend.

“Chris is beloved by all his ESPN colleagues and for good reason: He has a huge heart and has given so much to so many over the years,” he said. “We know how much his family means to him and all we can do at a moment like this is give him the love and support he will surely need at this hour. Our thoughts and prayers are with Chris, Meredith, Doug and the entire family.”
