School was canceled in my hometown this morning because a sheet of ice covered the streets after last night’s frozen rain storm. Having the kids at home for the next 6 hours was a major curve ball to start the day. Frozen streets and curve balls. This, of course, got me thinking of baseball. Specifically, Mariners hot stove baseball. The M’s have been very active in the free agent market over the off season. But have they done enough? Here are significant Mariner front office moves to date:

- Released OF Jason Bay
- Signed former Mariner utility infielder Willie Bloomquist to a 2 year deal
- Signed C John Buck to a 1 year deal
- Signed All-Star 2B Robinson Cano to a 10 year deal
- Traded RP Carter Capps to Miami for 1B Logan Morrison
- Signed oft-injured OF Franklin Gutierrez to a 1 year deal
- Signed former Brewer OF Corey Hart to a 1 year contract
- Let OF Raul Ibanez go to the Angels in a 1 year deal
- Declined to sign 1B Kendrys Morales to a qualifying offer
- Declined mutual option to extend contract of SP Joe Saunders
- Let IF Chone Figgins sign a minor league contract with the Dodgers

The 2014 Mariners projected starting lineup will look something like this:

1 Dustin Ackley OF
2 Kyle Seager 3B
3 Robinson Cano 2B
4 Corey Hart DH
5 Justin Smoke 1B
6 Logan Morrison OF
7 Michael Saunders OF
8 Mike Zunino C
9 Brad Miller SS

And the pitchers like this:

SP Felix Hernandez
SP Hisashi Iwakuma
SP Erasmo Ramirez
SP James Paxton
SP Taijaun Walker
SP Brandon Maurer
RP Danny Farquhar
RP Charlie Furbush
RP Stephen Pryor

Notable bench players are likely to be Gutierrez, SS Nick Franklin, Bloomquist, C/DH Jesus Montero and rollercoaster reliever Tom Wilhelmsen.
